At Dorms & Digs, we’re always listening, learning, and designing with purpose—and the latest UK student accommodation surveys have given us a lot to think about.
A 2024 Knight Frank & UCAS survey of 70,000+ students reveals:
✅ Fast Wi‑Fi, utility-inclusive rent, 24‑hour security, and communal kitchens are non-negotiables.
❌ On-site gyms, cinemas, and swimming pools? Considered luxury extras—66% of students would trade them for cheaper rent, but only 3.5% would sacrifice fast Wi‑Fi.
💬 78% said mental health and wellbeing support from their provider influenced their accommodation decision.
🤝 Students also showed strong preferences for supportive communal spaces, responsive maintenance, and specialist living options like:
Quiet floors
LGBTQ+ inclusive accommodation
Accessible rooms
Roommate matching
📶 Demand continues to rise for good broadband, a true sense of community, and well-managed halls that put people first.
At Dorms & Digs, we're not just building furniture—we’re helping to shape environments that support wellbeing, community, and student success.
